David Pascoe

Newlyn Vessel: Serene Dawn PW 156

David is owner skipper of the Serene Dawn. As well as ring netting for sardines during the season David also fishes for other demersal species using gill and tangle nets. David is from a well-known fishing family in Newlyn and has been fishing as an owner-skipper since he left school.

Will Treneer

Newlyn Vessel: Inter-Nos PZ46

Will is skipper of the newest vessel in the fleet. the Inter-Nos, a 15m catamaran and jointly owned with Sam and Elizabeth Lambourn.  The vessel is a bespoke ring net vessel built in Northern Ireland to the highest specifications. Will has been working as crew and skipper on ring netters for the past 12 years.
Will also skippers his own vessel, Sovereign FH25 and when not ring netting, targets a range of fish and shellfish species using nets and pots. Will is currently treasurer of the Sardine Association.

John Hunkin

Mevagissey Vessel: Celtic Dawn FY 10

John ‘Chunky’, is the skipper-owner of the Celtic Dawn, a 13.5m multi-purpose vessel. When not targeting sardine with a ring net, the vessel is rigged to work gill, trammel & tangle nets for species such as pollock, monk, turbot and ray.

Tom Lambourn

Newlyn Vessel: Lyonesse PZ 81

Tom is skipper of the Lyonesse a 12m catamaran owned by his dad, Sam Lambourn.  Tom has been working as crew on ring netters for many years taking over as skipper of the Lyonesse in 2023. Tom is also owner/skipper of his own vessel, My Lass PZ291 – an under 10m crabber/gill netter. When not ring netting Tom targets a range of species landing his catch into Newlyn.

Mark Powell

Newlyn Vessel: Pelagic Marksman SS 774

Mark is owner skipper of the Pelagic Marksman one of the newest vessels to join the CSMA fleet. The Pelagic Marksman is a dedicated 14.95m ring net vessel. Mark has a wide range of fishing experience having skippered and owned a number of vessels.

Chris Blamey

Mevagissey Vessel: Galwad-y-Mor FH76

Chris works the family owned vessel the Galwad-y-Mor from Mevagissey. Chris is one of our younger skippers having taken over the helm from his father Peter. As well as targeting Sardines during the season Chris will also rig the vessel to work gill, tangle, trammel & sole nets. Chris also acts as Secretary for the CSMA.

Adrian Lester

Plymouth Vessel: Hannah Jack PH 5583

Adrian owns the Hannah Jack an under 10m Catamaran and also skippers the bespoke ring netter the Charlotte Clare on behalf of Interfish, the vessels owner. Adrian works from his local port of Plymouth.

James Trevarton

Mevagissey vessel PZ182 Asthore

James is the newest skipper member of the CSMA. Taking over as skipper of the Ocean Fish owned vessel in 2023. James has worked on a range of fishing vessels in the SW both as crew and owner skipper of his own vessel. James is currently working the Asthore from Mevagissey.

Richard Chamberlain

Plymouth Vessel: Rachel Ann PH770

Richard skippers the Rachel Ann the sister ship of the Charlotte Claire also owned by Interfish. Richard is a very experienced beam trawl skipper before moving to skippering the Nicola May, another of the Association’s member vessels.

Peter Bullock

Newlyn Vessel: Vesta PZ183

Peter is a vastly experienced ring net skipper having spent many years working for Ocean Fish on the Resolute, Asthore and now skippers the newest vessel in the Ocean Fish fleet, the 14.9m Vesta.

Tom Pascoe

Newlyn Vessel: Charlotte Clare PH660

Tom is Skipper of the Charlotte Clare owned by Interfish, Plymouth and the youngest skipper in the fleet. Tom took over as skipper in 2021 when he brought the boat from Plymouth to fish out of Newlyn.

Nick Hichens

Newlyn Vessel: Mayflower PZ 181

Nick has been ring netting for many years firstly working as crew on a range of vessels in the SW fleet before stepping up to skipper. As well as skippering the bespoke Ocean Fish owned ring netter, Mayflower. Nick also owns an under 10m vessel working from Sennen cove targeting a mix of species such as crab, bass, squid and mackerel..

Danny Downing

Newlyn Vessel: Golden Harvest PZ 63

Danny has been fishing since he left school and has worked as on a range of vessels in the SW fleet. Prior to skippering the Golden Harvest, Danny was skipper of the under 10m ring netter ‘Pride of Cornwall’. Danny has many years of experience of ring netting for sardine though is still one of a number of younger skippers working in the Cornish Sardine fishery.

Cornish Sardine Management Association

The Cornish Sardine Management Association is a group of Cornish fishermen and processors who came together in 2004 to agree common standards between themselves for catching, processing and marketing Cornish Sardines.
